Tests #
Tests are the fundamental mechanic of TD2e gameplay. Tests have two dimensions: advantage and difficulty.
By default, tests are normal and are made by rolling 2d6. Some traits or conditions may confer advantage or disadvantage on a test. 3d6 are rolled for a test made at advantage. For a test made at disadvantage, roll 1d6.
By default, tests are of average difficulty. If any of the dice rolled on an average test are 5 or 6, the action is successful.
At the GM’s discretion, a test can instead be declared trivial, easy, or difficult.
- trivial tests succeed on a 3, 4, 5 or 6
- easy tests succeed on a 4, 5 or 6
- average tests succeed on a 5 or 6
- difficult tests succeed on a 6
Conditions can cause a test to move difficulty levels in either direction.
